Itinerary
Día 1
City tour
- After pick-up at the hotel, head to the restaurant where the night party begins with a welcome ceremony at the pergola. Listen to live music, enjoy a tropical cocktail and observe the takona ritual (painted faces). You can even have your face marked with traditional kiea pigments.
- Then, gather around a hole for the presentation of umu pae to learn about the Rapa Nui tradition of cooking food on hot volcanic stones. Feel free to ask any questions you may have about the process, which includes wrapping the products in banana leaves and placing them on the floor for cooking for several hours. While the meat is cooling, whet your appetite while trying traditional dance steps with the members of an acting group.
- For dinner, the umu pae style menu presents dishes prepared earlier that day. You can expect some kind of meat (chicken, pork ribs, sausages and fish), in addition to seasonal vegetables such as potatoes, squash, carrots and among others. Take morsels of succulent meats and vegetables that have been simmered for hours. Regular accompaniments include rice, salads, sauces, bread and dessert.
- Once you are satisfied, head to the ballroom to enjoy a fascinating folk show that brings the history and legends of Rapa Nui to life. Between the impressive dance and the traditional songs of "Hoko", "Moai" and "Tanata Manu", the boss explains what you see.
- After the presentation, you will be taken back to your hotel.
