Itinerary
Día 1
Treasures of Chile Private Tour: Alpacas and Penguins
Tour start time: 8:00 am
- After your hotel pickup, we venture out to the countryside where we will visit the largest private alpaca patch in Chile.
- Enjoy the luxury of nature and discover this beautiful animal up close.
- You will see the entire alpaca wool production process and enjoy a wide selection of exclusive creations and handmade items from alpaca wool that portray the heritage and spirit of the Andean culture, which is the World of the Alpaca.
- Then we continue towards the Pacific coast to the town of Cachagua. We will be a stone's throw from the "Island of the Penguins", where most days we can glimpse penguins with the naked eye or with binoculars.
- Cachagua Island was declared a Nature Sanctuary in 1979. It is a perfect place to contemplate the landscape and nature. It is an island of 4.5 hectares 100 meters from the coast. It is one of the five most important nesting sites for the Humboldt penguin in Chile.
- The island also has an important diversity of bird species, including chungungos, pelicans, seagulls and yecos.
- We will walk along a beautifully carved path to a small cove with magnificent views of the ocean.
- Then, we will stop for lunch (not included) in the quiet coastal town of Zapallar. This tour is a “must do” for anyone who wants to know the essence of Chile!

Notes
- The order of the sites visited may vary.
- To see the penguins it is necessary to walk about 500 meters on the beach, so we recommend wearing appropriate footwear.
- Penguin sightings from the shore are most common during the summer months of November through March when there are hundreds of penguins. Between April and October the penguin population decreases to just a dozen. Therefore, keep in mind that during these months it may not be possible to see the penguins from the shore. Throughout the year, as an alternative to watching the penguins walking along the coast, you will have the option of taking a one-hour private boat ride around the island (weather permitting) to see the birds up close. penguins. This is an additional $ 60,000 Chilean pesos per group (up to 7 people) and payment must be made in cash directly at the pier on the day of the tour. Let us know of your interest in taking this optional boat ride when you complete the reservation form. The boat ride option is not recommended for those suffering from tide.
- Although this is a private tour with your own vehicle and guide, there may be other visitors to the alpaca patch that is beyond our control.
