Itinerary
Día 1
Inca Adventure: Alpacas, Petroglyphs and Wine
Tour start time: 8:00 am
- This is a fantastic adventure! First, we will visit the largest private alpaca farm in Chile.
- Enjoy nature and discover this beautiful animal up close. You will see the entire alpaca wool production process and enjoy a wide selection of exclusive creations and handmade items from alpaca wool that portray the heritage and spirit of the Andean culture, which is the world of the alpaca.
- Then, we will travel to the foothills of the Andes and we will stop at the Archaeological Park of Paidahuén. Paidahuén is an isolated hill located along the north bank of the Aconcagua River in the rural town of San Esteban.
- At the top of Paidahuén, visitors will appreciate slabs of large rocks adorned with petroglyphs. Full of symbolism and mystery, these cave drawings are the work of native populations dating back 450 to 1,000 years.
- The true meaning of the petroglyphs is unknown, but research has shown that they were not made by chance. From the top of the hill, visitors can ponder unanswered questions while taking the natural context into account.
- Specifically, the relationship between Cerro Paidahuén and other hills in the valley, the strategic positioning of the hill, and the prevalence of north-facing petroglyphs are some of the observations that can help to understand the importance of this site.
- Next, we will visit the nearby Viña San Esteban for a tour of the vineyard and a wine tasting. San Esteban is a family-owned producer of high-quality table grapes and wines.
- The vineyard exports to more than 20 countries. Its grapes are planted along the banks of the Aconcagua River and on the surrounding slopes. This geography creates an ideal microclimate for the production of wine and table grapes, with a soil quality that rivals the best wine regions in South America.
- After the visit to the winery and the tasting, there will be time for lunch (not included), if you wish, in a rustic restaurant called "La Ruca" which means "house" in the Mapuche Indian language. This tour shows visitors the essence of Chile!
