Santiago Markets
Santiago Markets
- Cycle along with us through some of the most famous markets in South America.
- Fill your senses with fruits, vegetables and seafood that you can only find in Chile.
- By bicycle you will reach places outside the traditional tourist circuits where the true inhabitants of Santiago live.
- Go through the graffiti walls of the Bellavista Neighborhood and learn about the immigration of Koreans, Palestinians and Peruvians.
- Do not forget to take your camera because there are few tourists who come to these places.
- At the end of this walk you will have a new understanding of the culture and history of the capital of Chile and you will know where to find your next meal, which will be incredibly tasty!
- Every day at 9:30 in the morning until 12:30.
- The meeting point is in the Green Bicycle office, Loreto 6.
Your local guide-guru, who has knowledge and many skills to ride on two wheels, will keep you well informed and equipped since your arrival.
9:30 am : We ride in the direction of the bohemian and artistic Barrio Bellavista with its walls full of graffiti. You will pass through colorful cobbled streets to the house of Pablo Neruda, famous Chilean poet and cultural icon. You will have time to enjoy street art and the beautiful architecture of the place.
10:00 am : Next stops… La Chascona, home of the famous Chilean poet and cultural icon, Pablo Neruda and then Patronato, immigrant neighborhood of Korea, Peru and the Middle East. You will discover how they have integrated into Chilean culture and the history of why they arrived here in the era of the Ottoman Empire, the Korean War and the economic crises through which the northern countries have passed.
10:30 am : Zoom Zoom Zooooom ... so your bike will be heard while you ride along the north bank of the Mapocho River to La Vega Central, the main market in this area of the city where in addition to fruits and vegetables you can find everything imaginable. It's time to park your "noble steed" and discover the market by walking to enjoy even more its aisles full of shops! Then, you will get on your bike again to know the south bank of the river until you reach the Central Market, the largest fish and seafood market in the Center of Santiago. The Green Bicycle visits these markets since 2008 so the locals will be happy to take a picture with you.
12:00 pm : Get on your bike again because our next stop is the picturesque Forest Park, one of our favorite pedals along the 14-kilometer park that runs alongside the Mapocho River across the city of Santiago
12:15 pm : Ok, you may feel a little tired so we go back to the Green Bicycle office. Fill your bottle with water, connect to our Wifi and enjoy a few more minutes with your guide who will be ready to answer any questions or if you need any guidance. We want you to LOVE Santiago just like us and feel that you lived a great moment!
