Itinerary
Día 1
City tour
Tour start time: 10:00 am
- Santiago, the capital and largest city of Chile, is home to half of the country's population. On this walk, we will see all the important sites and landmarks in the city center.
- We will start the tour at your hotel and first we will take you to the top of Cerro San Cristóbal by cable car. From here, we will have a panoramic view of the entire city where your guide will describe the geography of the city and will indicate the sites that will be visited during the tour.
- We will descend the hill by an open-air funicular that will take you directly to the colorful Bellavista neighborhood with streets lined with vibrant cafes.
- From there we will walk through Plaza Italia and the beautiful Parque Florestal to reach Barrio Lastarria with many small shops and cafes.
- Then we will visit Cerro Santa Lucía, an oasis in the center of the city. Originally called Cerro Huelén by the Mapuche Indians, this is where Pedro de Valdivia founded the city in 1541.
- We will continue to the historic center of the city visiting the Museum of Fine Arts (closed on Monday), the Central Market and the Plaza de Armas, the main square of the city. In the square, we will see the Cathedral, the Municipality of Santiago, the historic Chile Post Office building and the Monument to Indigenous Peoples.
- In addition, we will visit the National History Museum (closed on Monday). Then we will pass by the Building of the former National Congress and the Supreme Court and we will continue towards the Palacio de La Moneda (The Government House).
- Afterwards, we will pass by the oldest church in Chile, Iglesia San Francisco, and visit a handicraft market to buy souvenirs.
- At the end of the tour, your guide will take you back to your hotel using the city's modern Metro system for a true local experience.

- If you want to explore the city from the comfort of your own private van with a minimum of walking, we recommend our TOUR OF SANTIAGO AND ITS NEIGHBORHOODS, which passes through many of the same important points of the historic center and goes beyond to the upper neighborhoods of the city, or our TOUR OF SANTIAGO AND ITS WINES, which also passes through the historical points of the city center and includes a visit to a nearby vineyard.
